Kennel Technician
Location: Bradley Retrievers, Leavenworth, Kansas

About Us:
Bradley Retrievers, LLC is a professional retriever training kennel owned and operated by Scott and Lindsey Bodamer, located just outside of Kansas City in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in training competitive retrievers and gundogs, with a primary focus on Labrador and Golden Retrievers. Our programs include everything from puppy head-start to obedience, gundog, hunt test, and field trial training. We also offer sporting dog boarding, with plans to expand into breeding and whelping services.

The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a motivated, dependable Kennel Technician to join our growing team. This role includes a blend of kennel care, dog handling, training support, and property maintenance. For the right person, this position could evolve into an assistant trainer role.

Your Role Will Include:

  1. Daily kennel cleaning and sanitizing

  2. Basic obedience work and puppy handling

  3. Throwing bumpers and birds for training sessions (100+ throws/day)

  4. Feeding, watering, and general dog care

  5. Maintenance of equipment (ATVs, wingers, boom guns, etc.)

  6. Property upkeep including mowing, weed-eating, and brush removal

  7. Supporting the trainer in both the field and around the facility

 

Who We’re Looking For:
This role is ideal for someone who’s eager to grow in the world of dog training and willing to work hard in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.


You are:

  • 18+ and able to pass a background check

  • Reliable and proactive, with a strong work ethic

  • Dog-savvy, with a basic understanding of canine behavior and a love for working breeds

  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and handling strenuous outdoor tasks

  • Willing to work in all weather—rain, mud, heat, snow—you name it

  • A clear communicator who can follow directions and work independently

  • Flexible and punctual, with availability 3+ weekdays per week, plus occasional weekends

  • Hauling experience, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
